Some IRC channels will allow you to search
for a specific file. BE AWARE: There are some channels that
will ban you for this! ALWAYS READ THE RULES!!
Simply type "@find ___" in the channel window (no quotes). For
example: "@find akira" will return all the results with "akira"
in the file or directory name. The results of the search are
usually sent to you via private message, and should include
instructions for retrieving the file(s). For more help read
this.
One thing I need to mention is that DALnet
has a network specific rule that says that in order to download
.zip files from anyone (FTP doesn't count) you need to
DCCALLOW
them. To get help on how to DCCALLOW someone type "/dccallow
help" (no quotes) in the status window, remember that's only
for DALnet.
Another thing I should mention is that some servers are behind
a firewall you will get a message containing the
/dccserver
command.
